Transit cover vs all-risk cover, what's excluded, and how to file a claim if something arrives damaged.
Two policies you'll be offered
- Transit-only: covers damage caused by an accident in transit (overturn, collision, fire).
- All-risk: covers transit + handling damage during loading, unloading, and unpacking. Recommended for fragile-heavy moves.
Common exclusions
- Pre-existing damage (always pre-inspect).
- Items not packed by the mover.
- Cash, jewellery, important documents.
Filing a claim
- Note damage on the delivery sheet before signing.
- Photograph immediately, ideally before unwrapping.
- Submit claim within 7 days with invoice + pre-move inventory.
